Possible magnetic ordering and high field magnetization of Er 1.2Fe4Si9.8 single crystal

We measured the magnetization up to 30T, specific heat and electrical resistivity for the Er1.2Fe4Si9.8 single crystal, which has a two-dimensional layer structure. In the magnetic susceptibility measurements, a broad peak was observed at 1.7 K for H || a. Magnetization curve for the a-axis shows a spin-flop behavior at 0.4 T below 1.6 K. For the c-axis, a broad peak appears at 10 T in the differential magnetization curve, suggesting the energy level crossover. No clear magnetic ordering was confirmed although the specific heat shows a small anomaly at 1.5 K, a peak at 0.96 K and a shoulder at 0.67 K.
