Polaron effect and stabilization of s-wave pairing in a p-d hybridization model

Abstract

It is shown that cooperation of a polaron effect and the exchange interaction between 2p(O) and 3d(Cu) electrons leads to electron pairing. Polarization of the Wannier orbital causes the s-like state more stable than the d-like one in striking contrast with the case of the single-band model.
