N2 - One-dimensional (ID) magnetic properties in the charge-ordered phase of Yb4As3 has been studied by polarizedneutron diffraction. Field-induced magnetic moment on the ID Yb3--ion chain under the field of 7 T parallel to the chain behaves as that of the spin-1/2 1D Heisenberg antiferromagnet with g|| = 3.0. In the case of the field perpendicular to the chain, we observed not only the same behavior of induced moments with g± ≃ 1.2 but also a remarkable enhancement below about 10K. The experimentally observed ID magnetization can be reproduced well by the theory based on Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction inducing effective staggered field by uniformly applied field.
