Abstract

A polarization-multiplexed 1 Gsymbol/s, 64 QAM coherent signal carrying 12 Gbit/s data was successfully transmitted over 150 km using heterodyne PLL detection. The spectral efficiency in a single-channel reached as high as 6 bit/s/Hz.
