Abstract

A photonic plate to design arbitrarily shaped photonic mirrors and microcavities on a wavelength scale was discussed. A wavelength-sized parabolic mirror that collects light efficiently without loss was presented. The structural flexibility of the uniformly distributed photonic scatterers (UPDS) allowed the formation of two-dimensional microcavity of arbitrary shape. The circular microcavities of tunable resonance frequencies with high values of quality factor Q were also elaborated.
