    Abstract

Photonic crystals having a three dimensional periodic structure have attracted much attention from both fundamental and practical points of view, because of their unique properties in controlling the propagation of light. In this work SiO2 inverse opal films having a three dimensional periodic structure infiltrated azo-polymer liquid crystal were fabricated. Their Bragg reflection band could be reversibly shifted by photoalignment of azobenzene.
