Phase diagram of La2-xSrxCuO4 probed in the infrared: Imprints of charge stripe excitations

Abstract

A study was conducted on an optical conductivity of nine LSCO samples spanning the insulating, superconducting, and metallic region of the phase diagram of this compound. It was observed that, at energies lower than those of any phonon mode, clear features which were stronger than both the phonons and the narrow, hardly detectable Drude term. Hence, such strong features were due to collective excitations of charged systems which extend on many cells.
