Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and rotational hysteresis loss in Co-Cr films

    Abstract

    Magnetic properties (Curie temperature, magnetization, magnetic anisotropy and rotational hysteresis loss) of Co100-xCrx films (18 ≤ x ≤ 22) and bulk alloys (0 ≤ × ≤ 24) were measured to make clear the origin of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in Co-Cr films. The magnetization, magnetic anisotropy and rotational hysteresis loss in films are discussed by taking account of the dispersion of the magnetic anisotropy due to a microscopic compositional inhomogeneity. The rotational hysteresis loss of bubble materials such as YFeO3 and Sm0.4Y2.6Fe3.8Ga1.2O12 are also investigated and compared with that of the Co-Cr film.
