Abstract
The singular stress problem of a peripheral edge crack around a spherical cavity under a uniaxial tension field is investigated. The problem is analyzed by means of integral transforms and reduced to that of solving a singular integral equation of the first kind. The stress-intensity factors and crack opening displacements are obtained by means of the numerical technique due to Erdogan, Gupta and Cook [6].
