Abstract
The title compound (ET = bis(ethylene)dithiotetrathiafulvalene, TCE = 1,1,2-trichioroethane) is a new molecular conductor obtained by the standard electrochemical oxidation. It has a β″-donor arrangement without any crystallographic disorder or non-integral stoichiometry. The electrical behavior, which was sensitive to pressure, was semiconducting (35 Scm-1 at RT) at ambient pressure with a clear hump around 60 K accompanied by a large hysterisis. No corresponding anomalies, however, were observed in its temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility. The calculated band structure is two-dimensional, which agrees well with the observed physical properties.
