Abstract

We synthesized poly(MPC-co-DMA)(PMD) and poly(MPC-co-SMA)(PMS) to make new polymer materials for Drug Eluting Stent (DES). PMD and PMS were insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol and chloroform. PMD had lower glass transition temperature (Tg) and PMS had lower melting temperature(Tm) than body temperalure(37°C). PMD and PMS coating plates (titanium and stainless steal) were made by dip coating method We dissolved sodium 1-anilino-8-naphthalene sulfonate (ANS) in PMD and PMS, then these polymers coated on metal plate. Coating plates were incubated in water at 37°C. By ANS release test, ANS release were found after 30 minutes incubation. After 48 hours incubation, PMS30 showed gradual ANS release. Our polymers showed good solubility for DES which should be used in vessel and required drug compatibility. Also they showed lower Tg or Tm than body temperature(37°C). So they will show well flexibility on stent and drug release property in vessel. Using these polymers we are going on with research of suitable polymer material for DES.
