Abstract
Elastic moduli of high dense ceramics in the system of the title composition were evaluated from acoustic velocities, which were measured by means of the ultrasonic pulse method. Elastic properties were compared with dielectric properties measured on the same disk to find followings. The decrease in Young's modulus - mechanical softening - was correlated well with the increase in relative permittivity - dielectric softening - for the Ca containing solid solution of the terminal compound Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O3. A marked similarity was noted between shear modulus and fQ for their composition dependencies.
