The structure of ZnV2O4 were investigated. It was observed by the powder inelastic neutron scattering data that the ZnV 2O4 was a system of spin chains that were three- dimensionally tangeled in the cubic phase above 50 k as a result of randomly occupied t2g orbitals of V3+ ions. It was also observed that the chains became straight due to antiferro-orbital ordering, below 50 K in the tetragonal phase. The result shows that the wave vector dependence of the magnetic structure changes from symmetric to asymmetric at the cubic-to-tetragonal transition.
