Optimal pumping of Ce: LiLuF lasers for broad tunability and high efficiency

Abstract

Efficient and broadly tunable operation of Ce:LiLuF lasers can only be obtained by careful control of the pump and laser polarisations. Any sigma polarised radiation leads to formation of colour centres which can prevent lasing.
