Optical switching in photonic crystal waveguide controlled by micro electro mechanical system

    Abstract

    We demonstrated MEMS-controlled optical switching operation in photonic crystal waveguide. An extinction ratio of ∼10 dB and a modulation frequency of ∼500Hz were obtained at an applied voltage of 60 V.
