    Abstract

    Many ANDs make light work: A novel optical AND logic gate based on an assembly of polymer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films is proposed. The device is composed of four polymer LB layers, which contain phenanthrene, anthracene, electron-donor, and electron-acceptor polymers (see scheme). In this optical logic device, the input signals are photoirradiation with the wavelengths for excitation of phenanthrene (λ1 = 300 nm) and anthracene (λ2 = 380 nm), and the output is the photocurrent.
