On the Structure of Barium Borate Melt Just After Melting

Abstract

A structural investigation of liquid barium borate (BaB2O4) was done using a high temperature X-ray diffraction method in order to characterize the melt structure just after melting from α- or β-BaB2O4. The results suggest that there is a small difference in the melt structure of BaB2O4 just after melting, and it may be attributed to the difference in the Ba-O correlation at 0.37 nm between α-phase and β-one.
