On the mechanism of formation of diffusional plate-shaped transformation products

Abstract

Surface relief angles observed for diffusional plate-like products suggest that phase transformations can occur by the motion of transformation disconnections, of growth ledges, or by a combination of the two. Predictions of models for such transformations are shown to be consistent with a body of experimental evidence.
