Abstract
It was disclosed that both magnetic field along the h111i and pressure along the h100i, applied during cooling of a ZnCr 2O 4 single crystal through T N, affect the intensities of magnetic peaks of neutron diffraction below T N. Magnetic field along the h100i axis have no effect on the magnetic intensities. This fact indicates that the magnetic symmetry of the low temperature phase of ZnCr 2O 4 is monoclinic or lower.
