On the irreversibility line in superconductors

Abstract

The irreversibility lines have been comparatively investigated for conventional commercial (Nb, Ti)3Sn and high-TcY1Ba2Cu3O7 superconductors. It is found that for both superconductors the irreversibility line obtained in magnetization measurements is related to the flux depinning field B* at which the transport critical current goes to zero. The relationship between the flux lattice melting and the flux depinning is proposed from the viewpoint of the field and temperature (B, T) phase diagram.
