On-chip beads manipulation for immunoassay

Abstract

A standard CMOS chip which manipulates magnetic beads on its surface was drawn and fabricated so that a diagnosis completes an entire immunoassay process on the chip without any external apparatus. An affordable amount of current on the chip, down to 5 mA, could manipulate a magnetic bead which has a diameter of 2.8 μm in plane. In accordance to an increment of the current, the velocity of the bead was also increased then it showed a clear upper limit.
