Off-track performance of thin film single pole head for perpendicular double-layered media

Abstract

Side-fringing is an important factor for high track density recording. Track width written with a flying single pole flying head was measured through off-track profiles. The results show almost no side-fringing. The erase band width was around 25 nm for the off-track overwrite profile.
