Abstract
The observation of resonant observation of photons by exciting a photonic bandgap (PB) mode (REPEP) from a PhC using an electron beam running just above the PhC, was reported. The observed light emission spectrum consisted of many sharp peaks. The PhC used was a single layer of polytetrafluoroethylene beads periodically arrayed in a two dimensional triangular lattice. The rapid variation in the emission peaks with the change in the direction of observation shows that the peaks arise accompanying excitation of the PB modes.
