Observation of earthquake damage using alos satellite imagery-The Iwate-Miyagi nairiku earthquake in 2008

    Abstract

    We examined ALOS satellite imageries to find damages by the Iwate-Miyagi Nairiku Earthquake in 2008. Many landslides occurrence has been reported by this earthquake. One of the most serious landslide damages is at Aratozawa dam, in Miyagi prefecture. AVNIR-2 images obtained before and after the earthquake clearly show these landslide areas. Satellite remote sensing is useful to observe these damaged areas by natural disaster.
