Numerical study of flowfield around a multislotted high-lift wing

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to understand the flowfield around the multislotted wing. Understand ing the flow characteristics around the multislotted wing is essential for further development of its concept. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) computations are conducted in this study. In the two-dimensional computation, the flowfield of the multislotted wing is compared with those of a three-element wing to examine the effects of the additional slots in the multislotted wing system. The three-dimensional computation is conducted to understand how the tip vortices induced around the multislotted wing affect the entire flowfield.
