Abstract

This study addresses the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The CSF flow is crucial for health of the brain and spinal cord. Extensive knowledge of its flow is essential to the field of brain surgery. Anatomy and cross-sectional flow data, which are used as a boundary condition, are taken from MRI measurement. The fictitious domain method is adopted for representing spinal canal geometry because that geometry is very complicated. In addition, we apply a friction-type boundary condition to the permeable boundary surrounding the spinal cord.
