Abstract

The numerical analysis of narrow-track single-pole-type (SPT) head with side shields for 1 Tb/in.2 was presented. Additional side shield poles were introduced to reduce the side-writing field while maintaining the recording field strength. The optimized side shield allowed the side-writing ratio to be reduced to 0.11.
