Novel face-centered icosahedral phase in al-mg-li system

Abstract

A new class of the icosahedral phase is found for the first time in a melt-quenched Al5oMg25Li25 alloy. The icosahedral phase reveals a face-centered icosahedral lattice analogous to the structure of icosahedral AlCuFe.
