Novel crystal growth technique for organic crystal-cored fibre for second-harmonic generation

Abstract

A novel crystal growth technique for an organic-crystal cored fibre is described. 2-methyl-4-nitroaniline (MNA) single-crystal cored fibres are fabricated in a constant electric field. The x-axis of the MNA crystal is orientated perpendicular to the fibre axis. The maximum second-harmonic generation (SHG) is observed when the electric field of the incident laser beam and the external field become parallel to each other, and the largest SHG tensor element is conveniently used.
