Abstract
Normal and superconducting properties of ceramic samples of Pb2Sr2Y1-xCaxCu3O8+δ have been investigated in the wide compositional range of 0≦x≦0.8 and δ∼0. The superconducting transition temperature Tc appears in samples of x≧0.15 and takes a maximum value (Tc, onset=83 K, Tc, zero=75 K) at x=0.5. This is discussed in relation to x-dependences of the electrical resistivity, the Hall coefficient, the magnetic susceptibility, the upper critical field and the activation energy of the resistive tail in a magnetic field. It is found that these properties of Pb2Sr2Y1-xCaxCu3O8+δ are very similar to those of other high-Tc superconductors with pyramidal CuO2 layers such as Bi2Sr2Ca1-xYxCu2O8+δ.
