Nonlinear optical properties of Langmuir-Blodgett films of pyrazine-based dye molecule

Abstract

A pyrazine-based dye molecule was fabricated into the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. A sharp J-band was appeared at 18.2 × 103 cm-1 by the formation of the LB film. The polarized UV-vis and electro-absorption spectra showed the parallel arrangement of transition dipole moments to the substrate plane. The χ(2)(-2ω: ω, ω) values of the monolayer (12.2 pm V-1) and 5-layer LB film (6.6 pm V-1) were evaluated by the Maker fringe method.
