Non-toxic dielectric-coated metallic waveguides for medical lasers

Abstract

Dielectric-coated silver waveguides have been fabricated with very small losses to transmit CO2, CO, or Er:YAG laser light. The losses are drastically reduced by coating a ZnS layer instead of a Ge layer.
