Non-contact assesment of perypheral hemodynamics by using video plethysmography

Abstract

In recent years, video plethysmography (VPG) which is pulse wave derived from the skin video image has attracted attention as a non-contact heart rate measurement technique. In this study, we propose an extraction method of VPG which can be used for arterial pulse waveform analysis. The extraction algorithm is based on periodic component analysis. The value of the second derivative analysis of palm VPG derived by proposed method had correlation with that of finger plethysmography (PPG). This results indicate the possibility of the non-contact evaluation of peripheral vascular function by VPG.
