A new recording mechanism design was studied to suppress the recording demagnetization for perpendicular recording. High nucleation field Hn of medium was found to be a primary parameter for stable recording process. CoPtCrO perpendicular media with high Hn and low noise exhibited good error rate performance over 11 Gbpsi.
