Abstract
Some new magnetic polaron effects were found for nonstoichiometric GdAs and GdP by measuring their electrical resistivities, susceptibilities and specific heats as functions of temperature from 1.6 K ≤ T ≤ 300 K. The temperature dependence of the resistivities shows clear defferences between stoichiometirc and nonstoiciometric GsAs and GdP samples. Comparing with the stoichiometric samples, nonstoichiometirc GdAs and GdP show much larger susceptibility values at low temperatures and smaller entropy values. These anomalous properties are explained by the trapped magnetic polaron.
