This paper is concerned with some fundamental concepts and analyses of the HDR reservoir systems in sedimentary rocks, that is, the creation of a large artificial fracture in a sedimentary rock containing large natural fractures, and the variation of production fluid temperature at the stage of the effective operation of the HDR system is analyzed. Finally, the heat extraction through a fault plane is considered. It is concluded that the HDR reservoir systems in sedimentary rocks could be promising.
