Abstract
We investigated solution properties of cholesterol-bearing mannan (CHM), which is highly branch structure. CHM formed self-aggregates in dilute aqueous solution as well as cholesterol-bearing pullulan (CHP). The aggregation number of cholesteryl group (N ch) in CHM nanogel was twice and the density of CHM nanogels (Φ H) was lower compared to those of CHP nanogel. Cholesteryl moieties aggregated locally in a CHM nanogel. CHP formed macrogel above 3.5 wt% due to the connection of CHP nanogels. However, no gelation was observed even in the concentration of 10wt% of CHM. The branched structure of polysaccharides of nanogels affects solution property.
