Abstract
Selective thermoelectric hydrogen sensors (THS) were used for the real time analysis of hydrogen (H2) in the human breath. Using these breath monitoring systems, the hydrogen concentrations in the breath of four different subjects were monitored and the accuracy of these measurements was confirmed using a gas chromatograph. It was observed that the intake of the hydrogen water rapidly increased the concentration of H2 in breath, reaching a maximum approximately 40 ppm in 10 min. Using these THS the real time monitoring of the H2 concentration in breath was performed with the sampling time of 0.5 s and it was confirmed that the acquired data were similar to the data obtained by the gas chromatograph.
