N2 - A study is carried out to demonstrate that a method for the measurement of the mass-, energy-, and angle-resolved fragment ions, combined with a narrow bandpass monochromatic soft-x-ray excitation source, is a powerful tool to study the molecular deformation in the core-excited state of polyatomic molecules. This is achieved by considering the O 1s→2πu excitation.
