Modulated structure in a rapidly solidified Ni-47Al alloy

    A modulated structure with wavelength of about 300 Å has been found in a rapidly solidified Ni-47Al alloy. According to TEM observations, it can be deduced that the modulated structure is composed of a ordered phase and a random solid solution. Therefore, the formation mechanism of the modulated structure is associated with the "freezing" of the ordering process.
