Abstract
The effects of Nb content on the microstructures and deformation behavior of Ir-Nb two-phase refractory superalloys were studied. When the Nb content of the alloy was below 17at%, the yield strength increased with increasing Nb. When the Nb content exceeded 17at%, the strength decreased with increasing Nb content. The intergranular brittleness of Ir single-phase alloys was governed by controlling the microstructures around grain boundaries in Ir-Nb two-phase alloys.
