Microstructure analysis of weld metal by reconstruction of austenite crystal orientation

This paper introduces a method of reconstructing austenite crystal orientation based on martensite or bainite orientation obtained by EBSD. Also introduced is a case where this method was applied to the microstructure analysis of the as-welded and reheated zones of a weld metal that has a similar composition with 9%Ni steel. The results have revealed that austenite grains are finer in the reheated zone, while the packet and block also being finer compared with the as-welded zone.
