Micro-photoluminescence of ZnCdSe quantum dots formed under selected growth conditions

Abstract

Optical properties of naturally formed ZnCdSe quantum dots (QD's) on cleavage-induced ZnSe (110) surfaces are studied by micro-photoluminescence. The linewidth of QD emissions is much less than thermal energy. The spectral feature of emissions from QD's is strongly dependent on the excitation intensity. The diameter of the QD's is roughly estimated to be about 4 times of the exciton Bohr radius. ZnCdSe QD's are demonstrated possible for the first time on GaAs (110) surfaces.
