Abstract
Experimental study on the isolated blood-perfused rat lung viewed by intravital fluorescence microscopy was carried out. Using alveolar micropuncture to introduce cell-specific antibodies followed by fluorescent secondary antibodies, alveolar Type 1 and Type 2 cells were identified by intravital immunofluorescence imaging (IIM). Evidence for pressure-induced distortion was obtained.
