Mechanochemical synthesis of La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 by grinding constituent oxides

Abstract

Perovskite-type strontium manganite (SrMnO3) and strontium-doped lanthanum manganite (La0.7Sr0.3MnO3, LSM3) powders were synthesized by grinding the constituent oxides of SrO-MnO2 and La2O3-SrO-Mn2O3-MnO2, respectively, using a planetary mill in air. These synthesis reactions proceed with an increase in grinding time. The product powder of LSM3 has the morphology of a strong agglomeration of fine grain in nanosize.
