Abstract

Oscillator strengths (f values) for the transitions 4s4p3P-4sns3S with n = 5 and 6, -4snd3D with n=4 and 5, -4pz3P, and -3d2 3P have been determined by using the hook method. The metastable 4s4p3P levels are populated by a DC discharge. The absolute scale is based on recent lifetime measurements for 4s5s3S and 4s4d3D. The resulting absolute f values are in reasonable agreement with the data of NBS compilation except for 4s4p3P-4s5s3S but show significant discrepancy with recent theoretical values.
