Abstract
The lower limit of measurable ionic channel fluctuations in membrane currents is determined by the noise of electrodes attached to cells. Because patch pipettes have lower noise than glass microelectrodes, it is more useful to apply patch pipettes rather than glass microelectrodes to measurement of ionic channel fluctuations in, especially, membrane currents of acinar cells.
