Abstract

The Barkhausen noise (BHN) analysis signal is detected by a sensor on the surface of plate specimen and analyzed by a digital spectrum analyzer. It is experimentally confirmed that the BHN generating power (PWA) depends on the graphite content of the material. The average spheroidal graphite size can be estimated by a parameter of normalized BHN spectrum peak height (H//p). By combining Brinell hardness (HB) with the BHN signal, some correlation can be obtained between mechanical tensile strength and a parameter.
