The splashing phenomenon of molten alloy caused by a major disruption in the plasma is one of the most important problems from the viewpoint of reduction of the first wall thickness. In order to evaluate the splash, we have to treat the coupled problem of melting, electromagnetic forces, and magnetohydrodynamics. It is, however, very difficult to solve the coupled problem exactly. Therefore each issue is independently solved by numerical analyses and the coupled phenomena are approximately evaluated based on a simple model using the results obtained by the uncoupled analyses. The result obtained by the analysis shows that about half of the molten layer could be splashed out by the electromagnetic force due to eddy currents when the decay times of the thermal and current quench are assumed to be the same, 10 ms.
