Magnetoelasticity of UNi2Si2

Abstract

The linear spontaneous magnetostriction, in the basal plane λa = 3 × 10-4 and along the λc axis = -5 × 10-4, is determined for the low-temperature phase in UNi2Si2 from thermal-expansion data. The results are consistent with the pressure-temperature magnetic phase diagram.
